Descriptive transcript of the Tinwell film (1 minute 35 seconds). Narration is in plain text; what is shown on screen is in italics. Music plays throughout. Figures shown in the film are an illustrative example.
Outside a three-storey building on a sunny street, its sign reading "Charity HQ". The camera moves in through a first-floor window to an office, where Bob sits at his desk, seen from behind, looking at his computer. The camera moves into his screen, which shows the charity's website dashboard: "Donors on site: 0" and "Total raised: £0". Bob walks in beside it.
Narrator: It's just another day at Charity HQ, and Bob, the fundraising manager, is checking on his latest donation campaign.
A donor, shown as a coral heart, appears on the dashboard. "Donors on site" changes to 1. Bob beams.
Narrator: Ooh, look! Someone's about to make a donation!
A small door belonging to another website appears on the dashboard. It opens, the donor hops through it, and it closes. Bob's smile freezes.
Narrator: But wait... they've been sent off to another website to pay.
"Donors on site" drops back to 0. The total stays at £0. A question mark appears above Bob.
Narrator: Oh no! They never finished the checkout. And Bob has no idea why.
A small rain cloud drizzles over Bob's head.
Narrator: Poor Bob.
Bob punches the rain cloud away and rolls up his sleeves. The screen changes to a plugins page showing Tinwell. Bob presses "Activate" and it turns to "Active".
Narrator: But Bob has had enough! So he installs Tinwell on the charity's website.
The Tinwell logo flies onto the charity's dashboard. The other website's door bricks itself up. Two labels appear beside Bob: "No sending donors away" and "No platform fees".
Narrator: Tinwell is a WordPress donation plugin that keeps the whole donation on your own website. No sending donors away. No platform fees.
[Tape rewinds] The whole scene rewinds at speed to just before the donor arrived. Tinwell and the bricked-up door stay in place.
Narrator: Let's try that again, shall we?
The donor appears again. The charity's own donation page slides up over the dashboard. The donor hops onto the £25 amount, Gift Aid is ticked, and the donor hops onto "Donate". The button thinks for a moment, then says "Thank you!" as confetti bursts out and Bob jumps and punches the air. The page slides away, the donor hops back onto the dashboard, and "Total raised" changes from £0 to £25.
Narrator: Here comes a donor! This time they stay right on the charity's website, and... hooray! Donation complete!
A tear-off calendar appears and its pages fly away, week by week through May, while the total raised climbs to £8,420. A Tinwell report slides up.
Narrator: A few weeks later, Bob checks his Tinwell report.
The report for the Spring appeal, 1 to 31 May, shows £8,420 raised from 212 donors. A chart shows this campaign's donations climbing above the last campaign's. Four panels fill in: 38% of donors gave monthly and 62% one-off; 164 payments by Stripe and 48 by GoCardless; a form funnel showing 29% of donors left at the details step; and £1,240 of Gift Aid claimed. A "Smart insights" panel lists: donations up 154% this month, average donation up 13%, and Thursdays perform best.
Narrator: Look at that! More donations than the last campaign, and this time Bob can see exactly what's working.
Bob waves and walks off. The camera pulls back out of the screen, through the office and out of the window to Charity HQ. A card with the Tinwell logo appears in the sky beside the building and grows into a panel reading "The collection tin for your website. Your donors. Your data.", with a "Book a demo" button and the address tinwell.org.
Narrator: Well done, Bob! Tinwell. The collection tin for your website. Your donors. Your data.
End.
What a platform fee really costs you.
Hosted platforms take a percentage of every gift, forever. Tinwell is one licence a year, whatever you raise. Move the slider.
Against JustGiving, Tinwell pays for itself in about 15 weeks and 4 days.
- Their yearly price
- £39 + VAT a month, £561.60 a year
- They take per donation
- 1.9% + 30p, which is 87p of a £30 gift
Published prices, checked 12 to 15 October 2026.
GiveWP’s Pro plan ($399 a year) and Charitable’s Pro plan ($399 a year from the second year; $199 for the first), converted at the European Central Bank rate of $1.3267 to the pound on 14 October 2026 with no VAT added, plus Stripe’s card fee, since neither takes anything per donation on a paid plan (GiveWP’s Gift Aid add-on needs its Elite plan, $599 a year); JustGiving’s Grow plan (£39 + VAT a month for charities raising over £15,000 a year) with its standard 1.9% + 30p processing fee (direct donations through its Giving Checkout carry no fee, being funded by donors’ optional contributions, so a charity taking most gifts that way pays mainly the subscription); Donorbox’s Standard plan (2.95% platform fee) plus Stripe’s card fee; CAF Donate’s 4% on one-off gifts; Enthuse’s Fundraising plan (£24.99 + VAT a month) with its 1.9% + 30p fee; Raisely’s flat-fee option of 4% + VAT (its default is free to the charity, funded by optional donor tips) plus Stripe’s card fee; and Beacon’s Starter plan from £37 a month, which takes nothing per donation beyond Stripe’s card fee. Tinwell is the licence including VAT plus Stripe’s standard UK card rate of 1.5% + 20p, which you pay Stripe directly. Per-donation pence fees assume an average gift of £30. Not counted: Gift Aid processing fees, donor tips and surcharges on premium or non-UK cards. Logos belong to their owners. Full comparisons: GiveWP, Charitable, JustGiving, Donorbox, Enthuse and CAF Donate.

A donation hitting Tinwell writes the donor, gift, recurring schedule and consent state into Beacon, Donorfy or Raisely through their official API in under three seconds. No Zapier, no nightly CSV. Records merge into existing households and lifetime value updates, just as a postal gift entered by hand would.
Tinwell captures the declarations on your form and gives you a CSV export ready for HMRC Charities Online. You submit the claim. The Gift Aid guide explains the process.
Both come through Stripe alongside card payments, on the same form.
No. One fixed price for the licence, no add-ons and no per-gift fee from Tinwell. Stripe and GoCardless charge their own processing fees. See pricing.
