Tinwell vs Enthuse

How Tinwell compares with Enthuse on fees, branding, Gift Aid and where your donor data lives.

Enthuse is a UK fundraising platform aimed squarely at charities, with branded donation pages, event registration and peer-to-peer fundraising. It is closer to Tinwell in spirit than the international platforms, because it understands Gift Aid and it lets you brand the donor’s experience. The difference is the model: Enthuse is a hosted service with a monthly subscription and a cut of each gift, while Tinwell is a plugin that runs on your own WordPress site for a fixed yearly licence. The figures below are Enthuse’s published UK prices, checked on 12 October 2026.

What Enthuse costs

Enthuse publishes several plans. The Fundraising plan is £24.99 + VAT a month, which is £359.86 a year including VAT, and every donation carries a processing fee of 1.9% + 30p. That fee includes card processing, so it compares with Stripe’s rate rather than with a platform fee on its own.

Enthuse also publishes a Donations plan at £39.99 + VAT a month (£575.86 a year) with no per-donation fee from Enthuse. On that plan the yearly subscription is higher than a Tinwell licence, but if card processing really is included at no extra cost, the all-in figure can come out below Tinwell’s licence plus Stripe fees once you raise more than a few thousand pounds a year. Check with Enthuse whether card fees are included before comparing, because that single point changes the answer. We say this plainly because the fee comparison is not the only reason to choose Tinwell, and we would rather you had the right numbers.

What Tinwell costs

A Tinwell licence is £249 + VAT a year for one website, £298.80 in total. Tinwell takes nothing per gift. Donations go into your own Stripe account at Stripe’s standard UK rate, 1.5% + 20p at the time of writing, paid to Stripe. Details on the pricing page.

A worked example at £60,000 a year

A charity raising £60,000 a year online in 2,000 gifts averaging £30, on Enthuse’s Fundraising plan:

Yearly costEnthuseFundraising planTinwellwith Stripe
Subscription or licence£359.86£24.99 + VAT × 12 months£298.80£249 + VAT
Percentage on £60,000£1,140.001.9% of £60,000£900.001.5% of £60,000
Fixed fee on 2,000 gifts£600.0030p × 2,000 gifts£400.0020p × 2,000 gifts
Total£2,099.86£1,598.80
Extra kept for the cause with Tinwell£501.06

That is £501.06 a year kept for the cause, and against the Fundraising plan, Tinwell pays for its licence in about 22 weeks. At £30,000 a year the difference is £281.06; at £120,000 it is £941.06; at £250,000 it is £1,894.39. The fee calculator runs the Enthuse Fundraising plan against your own figures.

Prices checked 12 October 2026

Enthuse’s Fundraising plan (£24.99 + VAT a month) with its 1.9% + 30p fee; its Donations plan is £39.99 + VAT a month with no per-donation fee from Enthuse. Tinwell is the licence including VAT plus Stripe’s standard UK card rate of 1.5% + 20p. Per-donation pence fees assume an average gift of £30. Not counted: Gift Aid processing fees, donor tips and surcharges on premium or non-UK cards. Logos and names belong to their owners.

Branding versus ownership

Enthuse’s strongest argument against the big platforms is branding: your donation page looks like yours rather than theirs. Tinwell agrees with the premise and goes one step further. The donation page is not a page in your colours on someone else’s domain; it is a page on your own website, in your own theme, at your own URL. The donor never leaves. For analytics that means the full funnel in your own tools, including the step where people drop out. For trust it means the supporter sees the charity’s name in the address bar when they type in a card number. For ownership it means the data is in your database the moment the gift is made, not in an account you export from.

Gift Aid

Both products handle Gift Aid, which is the minimum a UK charity should expect. Tinwell captures the declaration on your form with HMRC’s wording and the address fields HMRC requires, stores it against the donor and each gift, and exports a CSV laid out for HMRC Charities Online. You keep the records and you make the claim, with no fee on the Gift Aid itself. The Gift Aid guide explains the process end to end.

Regular giving

Tinwell offers Direct Debit through GoCardless on the same form as cards, so monthly donors give the way they pay their other bills, with the Direct Debit Guarantee and without card expiries silently ending gifts. Donors manage their own regular gifts in the donor portal. See the Direct Debit page. Check Enthuse’s current options for Direct Debit if regular giving is the heart of your fundraising.

CRM

Tinwell writes every donation, donor, regular schedule and consent into Beacon, Donorfy or Raisely through their official APIs within seconds, merging into existing records. If your CRM is one of those three, that integration alone removes a weekly job from someone’s list.

Analytics and the funnel

Because the Tinwell form is part of your own page, your analytics tool sees every step: how many people reached the form, chose an amount, entered details, reached payment and finished. Tinwell’s own analytics show the same funnel with the drop-off at each step, campaign pace against target and Smart Insights on what has changed. On a hosted page that data lives with the platform, and you see what its reports choose to show. For a fundraiser testing a new appeal page, seeing where people leave is the difference between guessing and fixing.

When Enthuse is the right choice

If you run events with registration, or rely on supporters fundraising on your behalf, Enthuse covers things Tinwell does not. If your website is not WordPress, Tinwell is not an option at all. And if you are on Enthuse’s Donations plan with card fees included and raise well above £10,000 a year, do the sums with your real figures before moving. For a UK charity on WordPress whose priority is direct donations, Gift Aid and owning the donor relationship, Tinwell is the better fit and usually the cheaper one.

Moving from Enthuse

Install Tinwell, connect Stripe, place the form on your donate page, run a £1 test, then point your buttons and your next appeal at your own page. Our team will do it for you with the free onboarding add-on at checkout, or follow the set-up docs for the donation plugin.
